About the Author
Matt Anniss (sometimes credited as Matthew Anniss) is a non-fiction author with experience of writing for children, young people and adults. Originally a music journalist specialising in electronic music, DJing and club culture, the Bristol-based author published his first book in 2009. Since then, he has written countless titles on a wide range of topics.
Matt has written titles for a number of highly regarded educational publishing brands, including Raintree, Capstone Global Library, Franklin Watts, Gareth Stevens Publishing, Brittanica and Rosen Educational Service. These include a series on the history of 20th century music, numerous science biographies for reluctant readers, and a swathe of titles on computing and technology.
Music remains Matt's greatest specialism and accounts for a large number of his titles. He has written a number of "how-to" books on DJing for children and young people and in 2017 co-authored the Vinyl Manual for the iconic Haynes Manuals series (alongside Patrick Fuller).
Matt lives in Bristol. When not authoring books, he writes on historic aspects of dance music culture for Red Bull Music Academy and Resident Advisor, regularly DJs in and around his adopted home city (and elsewhere across the world) and spends far too much time tending to his 8,000-strong record collection.
Patrick Fuller is a former journalist and editor who spent 20 years working with market-leading media brands such as What Car?, Autocar, PistonHeads, Stuff and What Hi-Fi? His extensive vinyl collection went missing shortly after he left home in 1987, only to turn up 15 years later in his brother’s friend’s attic, complete with 1000 rock, pop, classical and dance records the Fuller family had mislaid over the years. Patrick Fuller created the Haynes Vinyl Manual with his brilliant co-author Matt Anniss and now plays his records on the beloved Technics SL1210s given to him by his wife Louise. His six children have given up complaining.
