About the Author Gerhard Heufler (1944-2013) was an Austrian industrial designer and co-founder of the FH JOANNEUM in Graz, which he developed as head of the Industrial Design program into one of the leading design schools. He has received numerous design awards, e.g., for the world's smallest mine detector or an unmanned helicopter that are both now in the permanent design collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In addition, he was awarded the USA Industrial Design Excellence Design Award Gold in 2005. Michael Lanz studied product design at the University of Wuppertal and is managing director of the globally acting strategic design consulting agency designaffairs GmbH. From 2014 to 2018 he headed the Institute of Product & Transportation Design as well as the bachelor's and master's degree programs in Industrial Design at the FH JOANNEUM in Graz. Lanz has won a number of prestigious awards, including the iF Product Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award. Some of his works are part of the New Collection of the Munich Pinakothek der Moderne. Martin Prettenthaler studied architecture and industrial engineering at the Technical University of Graz. In addition to his work as a freelance designer and architect, he teaches design history and corporate management at the FH JOANNEUM bachelor's and master's degree programs Industrial Design. He also organizes exhibitions and symposia on the subject of design and regularly conducts research projects.
