Gonzo

Product Description Over the course of Hunter S. Thompson's extraordinary life he was publically branded a bum, a vandal, a thief, a liar, an addict, a freak and a psychopath. Some of these epithets were true. Yet, even when compared to the most significant figures of the 20th century, his legacy remains a brilliantly vital force. This is his story - the story of a troubled kid who went on to become an international icon, a story that plumbs the darkest depths of American society and charts the now-legendary adventures that birthed Gonzo journalism. Review A passionate sprint through Thompson s life... Hope-Smith s dark, energetic and rather splendid illustrations and Bingley s sharp words (a fair few of Thompson s are thrown in to good effect) focus more on the creativity of the 60s and 70s... That means the action never lets up, and as a readable introduction to a wild life and an impressive, if patchy body of work, this works very well. --The Guardian Hope-Smith s art is beautifully realized. Thompson is rendered not as the hedonistic outlaw superman of legend but as a twitchy and surprisingly sensitive human being.
