Product Description The way humans think and behave is endlessly fascinating and often surprising. Professional psychologists spend their working lives analyzing individuals’ mental processes and responses. Their subject is a science, but their practice and approach are governed by ethics and morality. We may all consider ourselves to be incidental psychologists in our daily interactions, confident of our ability to judge character, read body language, or to get to know someone, only to find ourselves confounded by seemingly unpredictable actions. Why do entirely good people sometimes do bad things? Is personality inherited or learned? Is there really such a thing as “being normal”? Psychology: A Crash Course looks at how these and many other questions have exercised the minds of those leading the way in psychology for more than 100 years. It’s a story of bold thinking, ingenious experiments, and sometimes startling conclusions that will make you stop and think. About the Author Paul Carslake is a writer, journalist, and translator, and has been a publisher of non-fiction books for more than a decade, spending much of his career teasing complex subjects into accessible and appealing formats that can engage any reader. He has a degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford, and is currently completing an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at London University's Birkbeck College. Razwana Quadir is a Communications Manager based at the University of Southampton. With a BA Hons/MA in Politics, Psychology, and Sociology, and Management Studies from the University of Cambridge and the Cambridge Judge Business School, she is fascinated by how we think, behave, and live in society. Her interest in consumer psychology led her to work in marketing and communications since 2013, alongside writing in her spare time and tutoring students in psychology to degree level.
